Loy Beyond and Back
Book 3 - Coming in 2026!
In Loy Beyond and Back, the third book in this series, the conflict between a shamanic-like culture and a technologically superior invader comes to a head. Where the Rehloy lived in isolation developing a special relationship with nature, the Ontarans arrived from across the sea with the aim to conquer and rule.
Everything was going according to the Ontarans’ plan until they discovered the existence of the Rehloy. Here were a people who possessed physical and mental powers far beyond their own. If they could capture and control the Rehloy, they could use them to conquer the world. But in so doing, they risked bringing a force into their midst that had the power to destabilize the Empire and usher in a new era.
It was a gamble their Emperor was willing to take.
Loy Beyond and Back is the story of an indigenous people forced to abandon the values of the past in order to survive the thrust of oncoming forces.
It’s about the nature of love, loss, pain and transformation.
It is the story of a misfit with extraordinary empathic abilities, who senses his way into the past.
It is about a woman stuck between two realities, who must commit to one in order for both to survive.
In Loy Beyond and Back, the very nature of man is at stake.

— Kirkus Reviews
“A compelling sequel ... Loy and Beyond stands as a testament to Gross’s storytelling capabilities. Five Stars!”
"I was actually lucky enough to review the first book in The Loy Series, “Loy: In The Forest of the Mind” and I can easily say that Todd David Gross has surpassed that book with his new installment, “Loy and Beyond”. While the first book was one that I considered incredible, this book is even more compelling ... I simply loved it!"
Loy and Beyond by Todd David Gross is a remarkable feat of speculative fiction … an excellent mix of psychology, philosophy, nature, and colonization in a moving, but totally unsettling examination of power, identity, and perception. Gross’s prose is elegant and purposeful, allowing complicated metaphysical elements to unfold organically, and the characters are all the better for it.
— Readers’ Favorite, 5-Star Review

“Loy and Beyond is a compelling story that resonates on so many levels. By telling the story out of time, it captures the zeitgeist of our own, teetering on both destruction and a new age. The novelistic approach to the esoteric content added a depth to the story that was fascinating. A rare achievement.”
—Michael Malloy

I was quickly caught up and carried away in the skillfully crafted story of epic adventure, dangerous encounters, and shifting currents. Subtly woven throughout are whispers of wisdom that give one moments of pause – insights that both haunt and inspire. Throughout, the book seems to stir awake something within that feels like an aching for something once-known yet long-forgotten and now-needed. So excited to dive into Book Three!”

“Loy and Beyond charts the continuing saga of the Rehloy tribe and their inevitable contact with the Ontarans. Gross is keenly adept at the evolution and intertwining of his characters, and the contrasts between the two cultures. From the pureness of mystical beings to the darker strains of form and substance, the reader becomes deeply immersed in this ever-widening tale. Beyond the action-adventure, the inner life and synergy between animals, plants, trees, and the spiritually-aware, pulsates through this book. This symbiotic relationship not only nourishes the characters, but causes the reader to pause and recognize the importance for all living organisms to coexist. Simply put, this intriguing story, with its twists and turns offers sustenance for the soul. It is a great read.”

— Leslee Drogowitz.
“A great follow up to book one. The author weaves an adventurous tale that makes it hard for the reader to put down. It leaves one dying to know where the story will go. I can’t wait for book three.”
—Vincent Marmorato
“Loy and Beyond draws the reader into the primitive yet sophisticated world of the Rehloy. The author has an immersive style, and as the story evolved, it became so intense I could not wait to see where it would go next. The complex societies and overall fantasy were both intriguing and very satisfying. Reminiscent of Clan of the Cave Bear, the twists and turns of the story revealed roots of a civilization like our own, and provoked questions about life as we know it. I loved every minute of it.”
